Walleyes

Walleye fishing in Lake Erie's Western Basin has often been described as the world's best walleye fishing. Aboard Chante Charters, our angling guests catch fully 90 % of walleyes casting or drifting. This is "full contact walleye fishing - the stuff of Northern Ontario walleye fishing". No downriggers, planerboards or rod holders. Rod in hand, you do the fishing.
Anglers of the Western Basin of Lake Erie revolutionized walleye fishing by introducing weight-forward spinners and the "countdown method" for catching suspended walleyes. This technique is very effective once a school of walleyes has been located at a given depth. Allow the weight-forward spinner to sink - 1 foot per second - until it has reached the correct depth. Then retrieve the lure / bait slowly. When a fish hits, drop the rod tip back a bit for a second or two, then set the hook with an upward sweep of the rod. Fish on !

Walleyes are both delicious and nutritious. Lake Erie waters are clean and unpolluted, and its fish are safe for consumption. If you are taking fish home, Chante Charters will clean and package your catch at a nominal fee.
